The Creation of Gumball 3000
The Gumball 3000 rally was launched in 1999 by Maximillion
Cooper, and has since become one of the most infamous
and spectacular events in the world. Inspired by the 'Gumball
Rally' and 'Cannonball Run' movies of the 70s and 80s, the
'Gumball 3000' rally has recreated the spirit of those classics
by bringing together the worlds of music, film, fashion, entertainment,
sport and business, for a 6-day, 3,000 mile mind-blowing road
trip.
Becoming Famous
In order to introduce some style and glamour into car racing,
Maximillion had originally planned a private party for 50
of his friends where he was going to announce his aspiration
to enter a totally new and super trendy racing team into the
Le Mans 24-hour race. The rally had a promotion plan of its
own, however. The first 'Gumball 3000' rally across
Europe enjoyed a success, far bigger than anyone had suspected,
and immediately mesmerized a fan audience that went beyond
motor sport enthusiasts. All this media attention led to a
host of high-profile worldwide organizations and household
names wanting in, including a deal to launch a Sony Playstation
2 Gumball 3000 computer game. Everyone, including movie and
music industry celebrities, supermodels, sport stars, businessmen,
lunatics, had become aficionados of the 'Gumball 3000', shooting
up the rally’s popularity to the sky.
What’s Next
The 2004 Gumball 3000 rally is rumored to be the biggest
and most amazing rally that Earth has ever seen. It will be
held May 5th-10th 2004, passing through places most of us
have only dreamed of. It begins in Paris, travels to
Madrid, Marbella, Marrakech, Barcelona, and finishes in the
amazing city of Cannes. With the route going through two continents,
this year’s rally will indisputably be the most amazing
Gumball yet!
